Ready to extubate...

Another 4 am Spontaneous Breathing Test came and went perfectly
while Matt and I slept a few hallways away.
.
This morning the doctors feel confident that he is strong enough to handle extubation!
Wahoo!
.
Bronson can not WAIT to get that tube out!
Matt can not WAIT to get that tube out!
I can not WAIT to get that tube out!
It is the golden ticket that will land him back into my arms!
.
.
I can not WAIT to hold my sweet, beautiful, strong, amazing boy!.
.
They've just turned down the Precedex...
As soon as he wakes up...

Hi, You don't know me, I hope you don't mind that I'm reading and commenting your family blog. I follow Natalie Norton's blog and she wrote about your family's tragedy and begged for prayers this morning, so I had to come read for myself. I want you to know that my little boy is just 4 months older than your sweet baby Bronson and he always takes baths with his older sister and I ALWAYS do what you just described... while they're bathing, I let myself get distracted with putting away laundry and getting their bed clothes ready for when they get out. Don't beat yourself up. If everyone's honest, we've all done that! Your story touched me so much, because it reminds me so much of myself. I, too, take my little ones in the shower with me to save time and plus, it's such sweet time. Anyway, I am praying for you and I'm praying that your baby boy returns to you perfectly healthy. You deserve nothing less. I'm going to continue following your blog and I'm going to post a prayer request for you and your family on my own blog. My whole being is hurting for you as I look at my sweet Noah. It could just as easily be me going through what you are going through. I hope you can feel the love and prayers that I know everyone is sending your way.

I, too, am a stranger and heard about this through your dad's Emotion Code list. Two years ago yesterday our son was life flighted to Primary Children's where we began a 7-week stay that ended in our letting our son return to our Heavenly Father. I see so much of what we went through in your experience, and I feel so thankful that your little Bronson is doing so well. I will pray for him and you. Even though our son was not able to recover from his seizures, I felt so much peace as we knew we had so many people praying for us. I want so much for you to be able to take your baby home with you!

I can't get you out of my mind. I just want you to know, Sara, that this could have happened to any of us that are Moms. We all make mistakes in our mothering, and for whatever reason, God allows things like this to happen. We have learned from personal experience that God tries those he loves! Thank you for your example of faith and your beautiful, eloquent words. You have reminded me to enjoy my children. You have reminded me that we have a God of miracles. You have already seen some. We pray for your strength and for Bronson's recovery- for many more miracles!

Sara, I also heard about you on Natalie Norton's blog. I first read your blog last night and as a mother of two young sons myself, my heart ached for you and your family and sweet little Bronson. You took my wedding pictures a little over 8 years ago in December of 2001! Amazing how this blogging world connects and reconnects us all.

I am thinking of you and your son and your family and praying that blessings will continue to be poured out upon your heads, and that Bronson will make a full recovery. It sounds like he is on his way...I am so grateful and happy to hear each piece of good news! May the Lord bless you all and give you peace through each hour and each day of this trial...you will be in my thoughts and I will be praying that each piece of news will continue to be good news!

You don't know me either, but I read your blog with tears streaming & my heart aching. My 6-year-old witnessed my emotions and came over to hug and console me. He saw the picture of Bronson and said we should pray for that little guy. I agreed. We'll continue to pray for all of you.

I just heard about your story and your blog. I am deeply touched and I will pray for your beautiful little boy. Also,I wanted to tell you to be gentle with yourself. Don't blame yourself. We all have our moments of distraction. I am a mother of two and nowhere near perfect. I, just like you, have gotten distracted while my kids are bathing. My prayers will be with you that you will forgive yourself. I know that the Lord won't even need to forgive you, because there is nothing to forgive. You would've never left that room if you knew what was going to happen. Just know that you are loved. Thank you for sharing your story.

My heart goes out to you. I have been in your shoes. I was a good, caring, concientious young mother. It happened 27 years ago (during the spring flooding of 1983) I was distracted while my two youngest children were in the bath tub. My distraction was throwing a load of laundry in the washer. It was an exceptionally busy day - with end of year school activities for our three oldest children, helping a neighbor out, getting dinner ready and pressuring myself to accomplish a list of household chores. As I pulled my baby from the bath tub, an older son called 911 while I did what I could. I did not know CPR, but was able to restore breathing with mouth to mouth. My baby however was still unconscious. Then because of seizures, my sweet 10 month old was air-flighted to Primary Children's. He was able to have a Priesthood blessing before the flight. Our pediatrician made it to Primary Children's shortly after we did. He and a hospital nurse gave me caring, nonjudgmental hugs. We were told it would be touch-and-go that night. He may or may not make it. Our son fought hard. He still had much to do on this earth. We were very blessed that his stay in the hospital was only three days. What a blessing to have the knowledge and expertise of those doctors. Our son is now 28. He obtained an Eagle Scout award, was a finalist in the Sterling Scholar program, served an LDS mission and graduated from the University of Utah. He has a beautiful wife and they are looking forward to children blessing their home. Our prayers are with your family, and for your son's full recovery and a wonderful life. I still remember my relief and happiness when I was able to hold and cuddle my baby again! I certainly learned NOT to point fingers at others!
