Awesome day...

Oh, Friends...
THE BEST NEWS YET!
We are all smiles and joy up here in Room #2314!
Our Neuro Assessment this afternoon was nothing short of miraculous!
I am sure it is due to your prayers of faith.
About three hours after they stopped giving him the paralytic,
they decided to lower his sedation to a half dosage.
It wasn't long before we saw OUR little Bronson emerge from the quiet, lifeless boy
that has been lying in his hospital bed since Saturday.
He came to and made eye contact with both Matt and I. We are sure he recognized us!
He looked around trying to figure out where he was.
He made expressions we recognized.
He looked worried. Confused.
He scowled a little when he was bugged.
He got good and mad at our Nurse, Ian, when he didn't like the stimuli.
He gagged when they stuck the suction tube down his vent tube.
He coughed up some of that nasty mucus in his lungs.
He wriggled away when we squeezed his shoulder.
He pulled his foot away and curled his toes when we pinched the big toe on each of his feet.
He lightly squoze my thumb and reached out to grab it back when I pulled it away.
He cried when they brushed his teeth and cleaned around inside his cheeks and mouth.
He pushed against the vent tube with his tongue trying to get it out.
He raised his arms up by his ears and shook his head
while they scrubbed his head and combed his hair.
He took a few spontaneous breaths, stacked above the breaths the ventilator is making for him.
He put on a darn good show and we were all cheering like crazy!
...Prayers of gratitude tonight!
.
He was up and at 'em for a couple hours but is back under sedation now,
although they are permanently lowering the dosage in order to allow him to remain semi-conscious.
The hope is to keep him comfortable and allow him to rest and heal,
and prevent him from getting too agitated and grabbing at tubes.
.
We can't wait to see him again tomorrow!

Matt, Sara, and Family: May the miracles we're all praying for be realized for little Bronson's full recovery. May Father in Heaven continue to bless your sweet family with His comforting spirit and strength in the days ahead. Your little guy is being cared for by some very special people at Children's Primary. It was only last April when our little grandson Cole was in their care after his little lungs collapsed from a viral infection. Just know you are in our thoughts and prayers continually. We love you guys. Larry, Barbara, and family

We don't actually know each other. My mom is in your ward (Lynda Ogden). Anyway she told us of your predicament and we have been following the blog. The first day we heard my husband and I fasted for Bronson. When our seven year old heard us say that we were fasting she said that she wanted to fast too. She said she wanted to fast the next day as well. She made it about eight hours. :) We just wanted you to know that even though we don't know you we feel so much love for you and have shed many tears every day thinking about you, knowing how we would feel in your situation. I just keep thinking that there have been countless times that I have stepped away from the bath or not held on tight enough to their hands in a parking lot, or let them play for too long without checking on them. I am hugging my children tighter. We are praying with all of our might that you will feel peace and that Bronson will make a full recovery.

Sue said...

Bawling tears of gratitude right on my keyboard! Never have I felt such a strong testimony of fasting and prayer.

One of our ward members is serving a mission with your father. She has spread the word to us here in Tucson for prayers. I wanted you to know that as a mother of 5, almost 6, I am praying for you and your family. You are truely an inspiration of courage, strength and faith. Many prayers are sent your way. God Bless you!

Yea for the power of prayer! Keep fighting little Bronson and we will all keep praying!

I know I haven't seen you for several years, but I wanted you to know that I think the world of you and your family. And I was devastated to hear what you were going through. It is so wonderful that we have the Priesthood on the earth and that miracles can happen through those blessings. I will continue to pray for him and I anxiously await more good news.

Sara and family,

My heart goes out to you and your family. Tears are streaming as I am just finding out about what happened to you and your sweet son. Anne-Marie Cales posted a link to your blog and I thought i would let you know that we will put you in our prayers as well. My sister Jacque had the exact same thing happen to her 7 years ago. You can read about what happened on a group I created on Facebook called TEAM MITCHY (Angels Among Us). I am so glad that we have the gospel in our lives to help with knowing where to go and who to turn to.

Best wishes,

Alex Fox and family

I am sitting here tears streaming not quite able to catch my breath. This is my exact story, just in a pool and in July of 2008. But all the thoughts, emotions, guilt, tender mercies, series of events...all the same! I can't even find the words to express all that I am feeling for you right now. And for me. You don't know me, and I feel a little insignificant amongst all of your viewers and commentors. But I feel like I have been needing and searching for someone I could talk to that understands. For a year and half! Please email me when you get a chance and when you are ready. amber.buhrleyatgmail.com
I feel like I have many thoughts that are too personal to leave in a blog comment.
Best of luck with his recovery as well as yours and your families!
