Today is tomorrow...

Crazy...
Several weeks ago, just after we returned from the hospital,
we were contacted by NBC's morning show, Today.
They had been following Bronson's story and asked if they could interview us live on their show.
Of course, we declined.
We needed to be home with our boys, who had been well cared for by Alli
and spoiled by family and friends in our absence,
but WE worried about them, after all they had been through.
And knew we needed to reconnect and spend time as a family.
So NBC clarified that the offer was for all of us... the whole gang. Even Alli.
We were shocked...
They explained all the reasons that Bronson's strory appealed to them.
It was well-documented through my blog.
It had been well-photographed and we had taken video as it unfolded.
And most of all, it was miraculous.
And GOOD news to tell.
We were slightly more intrigued...
But they wanted us right away.
We said sorry, but we needed some down time.
They offered to wait until after the Olympics.
We considered...
But with everything going on, I wasn't sure that it wasn't just another distration from our focus.
Our family.
We declined again.
SO they sent us a piece they aired several years ago.
Another miracle.
About a boy from Texas who had been killed in and ATV accident.
His death announced in the local paper.
The family had bid their final farewells
and prepared to honor his wishes as an organ donor.
Helicopters were waiting on the roof.
Recipients standing by.
And yet his Grandma prayed on for a miracle.
Long story short, they interviewed him on NBC a few months later.
Amazing.
We were touched as we watched his parents.
Incredible and faithful people, telling the story of their miracle.
We were reminded of a scripture that has become particularly meaningful to us lately.
We know that Bronson's miracle was not just given to him.
Not even just to us.
We believe it was given for the benefit of mankind.
To show forth the all-powerful hand of God.
To remind us that our loving Father in Heaven has a plan for us and for our families.
That He hears and answers our prayers.
That He intervenes with the course of nature, when necessary, to accomplish His will.
That we were blessed enough to witness one of these occurances.
First hand.
We could not be more grateful.
We are humbled to the core and still in shock of His grace and His mercy.
That this happened for us, and not for so many others with similar stories.
So many who prayed just as faithfully...
So many who were also hopeful for their own miracle.
Maybe even more worthy.
So many who accepted the will of God,
even when it was not what they would have chosen.
And yet, somehow, for some reason,
we recieved more than we could have possibly dreamed.
We recieved Bronson.
Here. Now. Complete. Whole. Himself. Seemingly unaffected.
And with that comes a responsibility.
One that feels too big, and yet we eagerly embrace.
Knowing we have room to grow.
We promise to do our best to give back.
To raise awareness.
To help others to learn vicariously through my mistake.
Help them to reevaluate and to prioritize.
And most importantly, we commit to bear testimony and stand as witnesses of God.
At all times, and in all things and in all places.
Even moreso than ever before.
Even if that means being on camera in front of a national audience.
Matt is excited for the missionary opportunity.
I just hope I don't trip...
Or ramble. Oh, how I hope I don't ramble...
And please pray that little B behaves himself!
He is such a wild man!
I just have one word about this...
Live.
Natonal TV will get him in whatever mood he is in!
Let's hope he sleeps well tonight!
Here are a few shots from the in home interview they shot a few days ago.
A few minutes of it will air on NBC's morning show, Today, tomorrow morning, March 12.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Aye aye aye...
How on earth did we get here?
New York City... NBC... Here we are...
Be gentle with us.

Whenever I feel weak or down in the dumps about my life, I pray, and reflect and somehow end up returning to your blog. THAT miracle!! How can I be ungrateful for everything I have? Your story shows me and reminds me that I need to be thankful! Heavenly Father does not forsake us. Ever. He is there with us always and I need to remember this. Thank you for the constant reminders. I have my family and they are well. That is all I really need.

I have been reading everything about Bronson's miracle. I have to tell you how the spirit touched my heart as I read it. My son is just 15 months old. It could have happened to me. I love to read your blog. You are so REAL! Thank you for just being you and not pretending that motherhood is an easy thing. Some days are just hard, but most are so rewarding. I know it is the most sacred calling on earth. I try to remember that daily as I care for my son. Thank you for reminding me of my main focus in life, my family!

I saw a show last week that I have been meaning to leave you a note about. It is supposed to be a new series, but the next episode isn't on tonight as scheduled... so I'm not sure if it is going to continue?

It is called Surviving Death and it is on the Discovery Channel (just regular Discovery, Channel 71.) It is about people like Bronson, but in even more lengthy or extreme situations.

A man who drowned in an icy lake and was in there for an hour, was revived after an additional hour of being dead.

A pregnant woman who drowned and was in the water for 15 minutes, was revived, only because they were keeping her alive to try to save the baby. (Sade Davis, that one made the news and is on Youtube.com)

A woman who is dead is treated with hypothermia after a cardiac arrest.

This first episode was just so appropriate with the drownings and the forms of treatment involved.

The next episode is supposed to involve electrocution and a head trauma patient...so not as relevant. But, still miracles so I thought I'd let you know about it.

We also like I Shouldn't Be Alive and I'm Alive on Animal Planet and/or Discovery. Lots of miracles on those shows, though not people being revived.

Have fun in New York!

Got to set that one to record on the DVR...Yay! So excited when God gets attention! He doesn't fail.

This post reminded me of a verse I've been intrigued by after reading it for the umpteenth time on Monday. Daniel 3:27 "And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them." KJV

Isn't that Bronson? Not a sign of the trial he endured, no evidence upon him at all, yet he will be seen by the princes, governors, captains, and king's counselors of our day and his victory will point everyone to the King of Kings in all His glory. I'm all excited, can you tell?

I found your blog through a friend of a friend on Facebook. I cried my eyes out (scared for you and over whelmed with joy too) and then reflected on all the times in my children's life when something came before them or I was distracted and how easily a mistake could turn deadly or just seem hurtful to them. Because of you I have been striving to do better, be better! I have been following your blog because I find it so inspirational and I am sure everyone tomorrow will be touched by the story of your family's miracle as I was. Good Luck.

I also have been following your blog. I found it from a friends and I now know why I did just happen to come across it. You are such an amazing woman. The last 2 years we've had our own struggles with our babies (age 2 and 1), in and out of hospitals wondering what was REALLY going on. Even a cancer scare. Throughout these experiences I've struggled with why me etc. All in all trying to be strong for my family. When in all actuality, not taking care of myself. Through reading your unimaginable story my testimony has grown immensely. I always knew we couldn't do it alone but I needed to be reminded. You reminded me how blessed we are to have this amazing gospel in our life and the unquestionable blessings that occur from being obedient and worthy of those blessings. I've fallen in love with your little family and your words of wisdom. I'm so glad to hear he's home and doing great. Good luck tomorrow. I'm sure you guys will show the TRUE meaning of christ! :) Melissa Miner (Utah)

I've been following your blog since the accident, and you've commented several times that people you don't know, of all walks of life, have been praying for your baby and your family. Each time I've thought, she doesn't know how true that is! I'm a liberal Catholic girl from NYC. We don't share a 'religion' but I do believe we share a God and I'm so grateful and glad that things have turned out the way they have for your son and for you all. I haven't commented before, but since I work at a museum only two blocks from the Today show set, I will be thinking of you nearby tomorrow morning and wishing you well. Please have no doubt that your story has, and will continue to have, power over the hearts of many, many people. And thank you for being brave enough to share it - not just on TV, but all along, even when the fear and pain were at their terrible worst.

I am a stranger and came across your blog randomly, but i had to comment and tell you, that your story has changed my life.

I am a mom to two beautiful and amazing daughters and I too have gone away for just a second - and had a distraction that has turned it into a few minutes....after reading your story, i will never do it again.

Thank you for sharing everything that has happened, it has allowed me to stop and realize what is important and what can wait. As Mom's we become such great multi-taskers and sometimes we do too much.

I am so inspired by your faith and I am so happy that God blessed you all with this miracle. You were right when you said the miracle will reach mankind. Bronson's story has totally touched my life.

I am so happy your family is back together and Bronson is doing well!

Thank you again. You have a beautiful family! Enjoy every joy, mess and laugh that your boys bring to you! Bless you all! :)

Good luck tomorrow!!!

I'm watching your story now, and while you're lucky he's alive, you deserve to be investigated by Child Protective Services for EVER even thinking it's OK to leave a 16-month old baby unsupervised in a tub of water.

You were quoted in another article as saying: "I know I am a good mom. I know that I love my boys more than anything in the world, but I allowed myself to get distracted, and that's the bottom line; and maybe that's what resonates, because every mom has been distracted at some point," ...

I have no doubt you love your children, but you couldn't be more wrong that distraction caused this tragedy. YOUR POOR DECISION to leave him in the tub for even one moment is what caused this tragedy.

I hope the lesson people take away from your story is to never leave babies & toddlers unsupervised in water.

God has provided a “means” (Mosiah 8:18), that means is through the priesthood. Those men, just like your husband Matt, who have been ordained to the authorized priesthood of God, and maintain their worthiness can make a difference. If we have faith in our Heavenly Father and the priesthood, just like you and Matt, miracles will be performed.

Through this missionary opportunity on the Today Show, your family will be able to preach the only true gospel and be an example to the world like a light on a hill. Taking this opportunity shows the world that you and your family will not hide your lights under a bush, but will shine bright. You will be an instrument in God’s hands to save souls and baptize converts through the ordinance of baptism so that they can be saved in the celestial kingdom instead of being limited to a lesser kingdom.

I just saw your story on the today show. I couldn't help but cry the entire time. I have 3 children and can only imagine the heartbreak you felt when you thought you lost your child and then the elation once you realized he was going to be ok.

My sister suffered brain damage over 25 years ago, I only wish they had that cooling system (lowering body temperature) back then, maybe it would have helped. I'm very happy for you and your family that technology has improved and that your son is doing great!

I also appreciate what you said about remembering the important things in life. Like you said, we all get so busy at times and forget the meaningful things in our lives. It was a good reminder, thank you!

BTW/your son is adorable. So cute playing on dads cell phone :)

Thank you for sharing this story and I am so grateful for the miracle that you received-another testimony that our Savior does live and loves each of us.(alabama)

WOW! Just saw your interview on the today show. What a journey you have been on! I have to share a moment in my life when I had a glimpse of what you have went thru...it was a nice summer day...we were playing frisbee in the front yard with our kids...then...5...3...and 16 months. My 16 month old walked into the backyard to play with our dog...he was only back there maybe a minute. All of the sudden I just felt GOd saying...go check on him. As I walked into the backyard calling for him I noticed the water in the pool moving...it was one of those little plastic pools from Walmart...only about 6 inches deep. As I got closer I saw him on his back...eyes wide open...moving his hands and feet as fast as he could...I screamed and Grabbed him out of that pool as fast as I could!!! He just chocked for a minute and was fine. Praise GOD! I know God prompted me to go into the backyard that day...just a couple of minutes longer and it would have been a really bad situation. He must have slipped when he stepped into the pool and couldn't get back up...the water just barely covered his face, but it was enough. I cried and held onto him for so long it seemed. I just want to thank you for sharing your story with us today. Thank you for being bold in your faith and giving God all the glory. God still performs miracles today and we need to stand up and tell the world what he is doing! What a blessing you and your family are to others thru this story! Bronson is such a sweet boy! He reminds me of my baby boy...well not such a baby anymore...he is 9 now! Praise GOd for his mercy...blessings and miracles! May he continue to bless your sweet family!

I had not heard your amazing story till today. I actually just happened to walk past the tv that was on in my bedroom, showing the Today Show, and it caught my eye. Besides the title at the bottom of my screen catching my eye, I could tell by looking at you and listening to you, that you are LDS. Must be resonating that MoMo vibe. ;) Seeing the pics of sweet Bronson in the hospital particularly pained me, as it was the same type of image that is still in my mind of my Mom....from 19 months ago. :( I was intrigued at the procedures used to help preserve his brain activity and wished while watching the show, that the doctors in St. George would have had that kind of vision to use for my Mom. I am so happy for your family and the miracle you received through our Heavenly Father and modern medicine to bring your baby boy back to you. You did very well on the show and I was incredibly touched by your powerful testimony at the end, as I'm sure many other people have been as well. :)

I've been following your blog for a long time now but this is the first time I've commented. I just wanted to tell you that I'm so proud of you for sharing your testimony on national TV! You said *exactly* what needed to be said. You said what I think most of us mormons really want the world to know. Heavenly Father is right there, and he listens to us, and he loves us.
You had wonderful poise and concentration for the whole interview, even with Bronson bugging ya! You were very eloquent and I think you really encompassed all the things you've been saying on here. They did a good job with the story and I'm glad they didn't hurry the live interview too much. And Bronson was perfect! Good job!

You did a wonderful job. It is sad that some people are so judgmental. I am convinced that you knew that there would be those that would judge and criticize, yet you chose to share your story anyway. To make a difference, to show gratitude, and to teach so many of us to focus on the important things. I can only imagine how hard it would be to put your accidental "mistake" on national TV for all to see. Thank you for having the courage to share your story. I, for one, am truly grateful.

Thanks again for sharing.

I am so grateful for your willingness to share this ordeal with the world, I truly believe that God allowed this to happen to your family because he knew that you would use this horrible ordeal to soften the hearts of millions. Your faith and optimism in the most trying of times, when no one would have faulted you for curling up in a corner somewhere to cry, has touched many more souls than you could ever possibly know. Yes Bronson's recovery is a miracle, but at least to me you, Sara, are the inspiration.

I had not heard of your story before seeing the piece on TV this morning from my hotel room, but I believe it is a credit to you that within minutes of you speaking, I knew you were LDS. The light in your eyes and your beautiful, humble testimony of our God of Miracles let me know you were "one of us!" Thanks for representing us well, and for teaching the world, through your example, that we are normal, loving, spiritual people. Beautiful story, beautiful family, beautiful miracle.

I'm not one to comment on blogs of people I don't know, but I just had to say how powerful your interview was today. Your words and testimony were so eloquent and yet, simple. Beautiful testimony.

Now to be a little petty.... explain to all of us how you have four kids and still have such a rockin bod!!!! haha.

Sara, I live in Henderson NV and had no idea about your story until I saw it on the Today show this morning. I was in the other room and heard the TV and your family's story. When I heard your voice, I immediately thought "Huh - she sounds like she's LDS." And then I heard you talking about "our God of miracles" and "Father in Heaven" and then I thought "Yep, they're definitely LDS!" So I texted my mom in Salt Lake saying how neat it was that you bore your Testimony on the Today Show. She pointed out that you had a blog, so here I am.

I just wanted to tell you that it is WONDERFUL that you bore your Testimony for all the world to hear (or whoever watches the Today show...)! You are wonderful examples and I know you have touched so many hearts. Thank you for being you, and not covering up what you know to be true. Reading your thoughts on why you decided to do the show is really sweet. I'm sure it was hard and out of the way for you to go there and do the show. But the Lord wanted you to share your Testimony, and you did. What a wonderful family you are to do that. Thank you!! I wish you and your family and Bronson all the best. :)

After watching, I decided to search for your blog. Wow, I didn't know what was in store for me.. I sat reading for about an hour, crying my eyes out... You have a way with words that not many people have. You have inspired me to be a better mom! I loved your piece on leftovers..

I love your request with your comment section on here! And I agree 100%!
First off-- You guys did amazing on the Todays show! Good job-- I am sure everyone who watched it could feel the Spirit you all brought with you. God is a God of miracles and is still performing them every second. Thank you for sharing your story on National T.V. I am sure it must have been very hard and I think you are amazing to do it! I think every mother needs to hear what you have to say-- God is wanting you to share your experience with others so that they do not make the same mistake as you. Because we ALL do it. There is not one mother who can not say that she has not been distracted and has watched her child every second. It isn't about just the bathtub and drowning. It is constantly being aware. Every day something happens to children that could have otherwise been prevented if the mother had watched her child every second. But we all know that it is impossible!!
Children fall from windows, get hit by their family backing out of driveways, fall down the stairs or off beds, etc... You get my point. And for KAREN MOM OF 2 IN BOSTON to even say you should be investigated is pure arrogance.
WE ALL make mistakes. Each and every one of us as parents! Your mistake is just more public than others and I commend you for being so public about it because it has saved so many babies lives, I am sure!!
SO THANK YOU!! And thank you for sharing your beautiful testimony of our loving Savior Jesus Christ!
You and your family are beautiful! Just forget the nasty comments because those that judge have their share of dirty secrets in their closets. You are amazing!

I just saw the piece. It was wonderful. Thank you for staying true to your faith and crediting God who IS a God of Miracles and a Father in Heaven, like you said, who love us as His children. There are some who would shy away saying those things on National T.V. But I saw that the spirit was with both of you, and felt it stongly when you spoke, as I'm sure many across the country and around the world did as well. You and your family have changed lives. Certainly mine. My kids and I now play games and tell stories while they bathe. We giggle and laugh together. I can quiet my mind and totally give all my love and attention to those sweet little boys. But it's not just the bath tub. It's a renewed ablity to refocus on the positive aspects of parenthood. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is more important than our family. Thank you Thank you for sharing your strength. I love you and your family. And I really hope you have found time to get that pedicure:)

This morning when I was getting ready to leave for my daily walk, I turned on the Today Show and saw your interview. I stopped and listen to the story. At first I had wondered why a mother would leave her 16 month old alone in the tub, then as I heard your story, I could so relate. Having had four children (three boys and a girl) within a six year period, I can relate on how a parent can get distracted. I was touched by the story. As the interview continued, the thought came to me--Hey! they have got to be LDS! So, later on today, I looked you up, found your blog (which I'll have to say is very impressive), and bingo! I was right. I loved your testimony at the end of the interview. One thing we all have to remember, is God has a plan. You have such a beautiful family, and there is definitely a big plan for those four beautiful boys!

Sara,

We went through a similar case. I was in Houston, and my wife with my two kids in Mexico. Youngest felt into a pool, and was found at the bottom. My wife did CPR, and came back. We spent nearly a week at the local hospital. I always thought that was the worst day of our lives until my oldest told me that it bothers him still. I thought for a moment, and told him that even though we went through a lot of things that day, it was the best day in our lives. We had lost him, and got him back. I hope that you can look at it that way. It has really helped us all.

Sara-
I saw your story this morning on the Today Show and was beyond touched by your sweet Bronson. Watching him on TV I knew he had to be close to the same age as my little girl. She uses the cell phone just as he did on the show, chatting away and having a conversation all her own! She was born Oct.1, 2008 and I see on your blog that there is only 4 days difference in their age. Your story is so touching and since seeing it this morning I have held, laughed, looked my daughter in the eye and rocked her to sleep for her nap with a new meaning. There have been so many moments with her that I know I have let her out of my site too long, ran to her room to get PJs with the bath water running, too many close calls that I didn't even realize! I shiver now thinking of it. There is a good possibility that Bronson has and will save lives with his story! I believe that everything truly happens for a reason and God knew what a strong boy Bronson is and what a strong family you are. He is using your family to touch the lives of many! Such an incredible little miracle boy! God is good and your family is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your story!

I am happy your little boy came out of this whole ordeal ok but I think it is awful you ever let this situation even occur. By keeping an eye on your kids you could have avoided all of this drama. How many times are parents advised to NEVER leave children unattended in the bathtub?? I work in a pediatric specialty ward in a hospital that deals everyday with the effects of neglectful parenting, hopefully this has taught you a lesson and you will be more careful with the gifts from God you have been given. Shame on you for not taking care of your children.

we heard your story shortly after it happened, when Bronson was still in a coma. My five year old overheard my husband and I talking about it and was so sad! We were all in tears. I told him the only thing we could do is pray for a miracle for that family. My son grabbed my hand and just poured out his little heart. "Please, give that family a miracle, Heavenly Father." I'm just so thankful and still very emotional and moved to tears when I think about him. Squeeze him close and give him a hug from us.

I was in tears as I watched you this morning as once again the Spirit testified of that which I already know, that our Heavenly Father knows us, and loves us, and has a specific plan for each one of us. I'm sorry that you had to go through all of this, God only knows what you have been through, but I know with a surety that you did, and were given this miracle with Bronson along with it, because you would touch millions of lives from it.

Without a doubt you have touched mine. Thank you for helping me remember what is important and how most of us can be a little less distracted when it comes to those important things.

To the lovely lady above who works at a pediatric specialty ward, I certainly hope that you show the families of those children a little bit more compassion than you are showing this family. Hopefully they don't let you work too closely with the families given your attitude and perspective. Anyone who wants to pretend they are a perfect parent who never makes a mistake is free to do so, however, they are only fooling themselves.

God Bless your family, Sara. You are an inspiration and I hope that the few negative comments don't bother you too badly. These people are are obviously hurting themselves if they choose to lash out in this way so the best we can do for them is to pray for them!

Karen & Amy do have a valid point. We should welcome an investigation of any parent who’s child is harmed. Sarah did say in one of her first posts that on a previous day, her kids had “played for hours and hours in the bath tub” and so she let them do it again since, “it was so cute.” She didn’t state whether or not she sat there with them for all those hours. Some would consider this an indication/pattern of her negligence and decision making skills as the caregiver of her children.

Sarah, I was wondering how you feel about the following observations/ questions: It appears you live in a very expensive home. Are you keeping any of the proceeds from your 5K fundraiser in a few weeks? If so, what do you say to those who would question how ethical this is? Are you considering giving up your material possessions in order to pay your bills? If not, would you consider it exploitation of your child in order to maintain your comfortable lifestyle?

I don't know the Staker family personally but I have been following their blog from the beginning of February and my perspective has been altered significantly by their story. No matter how diligent we are as parents sometimes bad things happen. It is what we allow to come of those things that shows our character and the Staker family has responded magnificently. Plus, that Bronson is so dang cute, I just adore him!!

Momber -- that's EXACTLY my point. You wrote "No matter how diligent we are as parents sometimes bad things happen."

I couldn't agree more, but it seems to me that to leave such a young baby/toddler in a tub for any reason is NOT acting in a diligent way, but yet her son was miraculously revived.

It makes me sick to think how many parents can't claim the same miracle over 100% preventable tragedies.

To the poster who thinks I'm simply arrogant, I'm sure nothing I say will change your mind. I know I'm not perfect, but I also know I've never taken even a step away from a tub when my babies were in it until they were much older.

I'm not sure what the fact that the Staker's live in a nice home has to do with anything. People work hard to get what they have.
Far be it for anyone to criticize them keeping proceeds from an event organized by caring members of their family (not Sara) whose purpose it is to raise money for the family to pay medical bills. It states that right on the flier. If you feel this is wrong, you have the choice not to contribute to Bronson, send your money directly to the hospital for those children you feel are more worthy in your warped sense of justification. It's that simple. But don't take away from others good deeds and desire to help this family because you're upset she lives in an expensive house.

Anonymous said...

I apologize, the flier has been changed from it's original version. It now states for children in need, not Bronson. So it would seem they don't intend to keep the proceeds for themselves. Either way, it is still your choice to donate.

kelly said...

Not jealous at all. just posing a question. It obviously struck a chord with you so maybe the family does know it's not morally right to ask/accept money when they are well off and have their son. Many families leave primary children's with millions of dollars in bills and no child.

Betsy, mom of 2 said...

I am very glad for you that your son is alive and healthy. You are an incredibly lucky family. However, instead of glorifying this miracle on the Today show, you should be reassessing your priorities and maybe even taking parenting classes so preventable accidents like this never happen again in your home. What happened to your son was completely and utterly your fault. Every parenting reference out there says do not leave young children alone in the tub, and you left two of them together, for quite a while. You believe God saved your son, I believe the doctors did. Either way, you should not rely on miracles to compensate for your own negligence. I am shocked that you haven't been charged for negligence or endangerment, and cannot fathom why that is.

For those of you who are concerned about the charity of this 5k, I feel so obliged as to clear some things up. I, myself, (sister to Matt and Sara) Started this event. It was ORIGINALLY intended for those of us, FAMILY and loving FRIENDS to come together and support Bronson, Celebrate his life. Celebrate the miracle we had witnessed and in doing so raise some money to help out OUR loved ones. Just as I know they would do for me. It was the least I could do, and my family could do to help out. HOWEVER, Since the time in the hospital Matt and Sara have been blessed in SO many ways and miraculously wont be walking away with a lifetime of medical bills, which when this all started was actually thought of. Matt and Sara are the least prideful, money hungry people I have ever met in my life. And have lived their lives in service of others. So we will be continuing that service of others and continuing our celebration in BRONSONS HONOR, raising what money we can for those families who are NOT so fortunate. And we will do this with those who are so gracious to support such a good cause. Matt would wish to help out others before himself even IF he had a lifetime of medical bills.

If you do not wish to support it, by all means, don't. But PLEASE don't judge something that you haven't done homework on to get the facts. These are good people. This is a good thing we're trying to do. And have a good time doing it with those who wish to support it. Why go out of your way to try to turn it into a negative? We want to do this yearly in Bronsons honor. Not only to remember how blessed, yes.. BLESSED, we ALL are but to continue to help those in need. There are so many who need it, and I cannot wait to see the grateful faces on those who we are able to help.

Matt and Sara, Thank you for being such an inspiration. Thank you for being prime examples of whom I would love to be like. Which is absolutely "Christ like". You and your beautiful children are absolutely amazing. Love you!

It struck a chord with me because I think it's nonsense that they shouldn't be able to accept donations from caring people simply because they have a nice home and got to keep their son. If they had lost him or were poor would they be more deserving using your logic? I just can't understand why you feel they are undeserving of financial support?
And how nice of them to now be donating the money elsewhere since they don't need it themselves.

Everyone, stop responding to ignorant people!! Really it doesn't matter what they say. They have no life so they find any way they can to cause pain to other people who do have lives (wonderful, happy, BLESSED lives) The only way they are happy in their own lives is to put other good, loving wonderful people down! STOP responding to them and they will go away!

Your story, your miracle, your faith is amazing. I too once made a dreadful mistake that almost cost my child his life. I underestimated the power of a 16 month old child to actually reach something. My son is deathly allergic to all dairy. I put a glass of milk on my desk and was preparing to spend some time on the computer. I turned around to answer the phone. My son climbed up and upended the glass on himself. His lips, eyes, throat (a little got in his mouth) and everwhere the milk touched began to swell.....horrifically. He began to scream from pain and then to gasp for air. I called 911 and grabbed the epi pen that ultimately saved his life even though I didn't use it quite correctly (miracle working power there). My son almost lost his life that day. And while he did not go through the days you and your son did....it forever changed me. When you have watched life fade from your beloved child...your heart.....it changes who you are...it forever alters the course of your life. So, though I may not know you..I feel a connection to you, born of guilt and forgivness of faith and love. God bless you.

I saw your story last week and was just deeply touched and instantly thought you must be LDS (we are too and strangly, saw your link on my friends blog who is a friend of yours too) and way, hearing your story I realized I really just needed an extra reminder that Our Heavenly Father does hear our prayers and answers them if we have faith....what an amazing family you are and what an amazing trail and blessings who have seen that I'm sure will guide you the rest of your life.
Don't let those critics out there get the better of you...we all make mistakes and I have walked away many times to grab a towel or switch the laundry to the dryer quickly and come back to find my daughter had fallen in the water and wasn't happy, but luckily, okay. Your story helped me realize how quickly bad things can happen, and it's not becuase we deserve bad things to happen to us because we were careless, it's just part of life and we need to learn those lessons the way HF needs us to learn them.
Glad to hear everything is okay!

I have been following your blog so touched by Bronsons miracle. I saw you on the Today show you did a wonderful job you all look beautiful.
Dont let the ignorant peoples comments get you down, everyone makes mistakes big or small it happens people need to stop judging and join in celebrating Bronsons life. For those of you have made comments who dont have children of your own you have no idea.
Your Prayers were answered your faith of Our Heavenly Father allowed this miracle. I wish you nothing but the best. Good luck to you and your family
and those who dont like the story, do us all a favor and dont comment or read it. The incident is already over she cant turn back time all she can do is share her story to help save others.

It is amazing to me how people can read/see the same thing and get totally different perspectives out of it. Reading some of the comments on here reminds me of stories found in the scriptures. People are always in different places in their lives and sometimes too far away from our loving Father in Heaven to see the true purpose and feeling of your blog and experience. One story that has always stood out to me (and I think it applies here) is the story of the woman who was about to be stoned and the Lord said let you without sin cast the first stone. It is hard to not cast stones at times, but I am really trying to live my life that way and your story inspires me even more. There is not anything in life that can please everyone and I am so grateful for your courage and faith when it comes to sharing your story. There are many who would have chosen to keep their mistakes quiet, but then who could learn from them. That is what we are here on earth to do....not only pass our own test, but to help our brothers and sisters through this challenging life, as well.
Thank you!
Much love from Clinton, UT!

Obviously I had to go to the website for the Hugs group for nearly drowned children, and read all of their stories and weep deep into the night. I am so glad for you that Bronson is alive and well. What a miracle. I wish I would have caught the segment on TV! I think it is wonderful how many lives you've touched and how much perspective you've been able to give people. I'm going to go hug my kids again. And again. And again...

Stakers-
My name is Linsey. I came upon your blog through another blog.. just blog jumping. I love reading miracle stories, as I have had my own, and heard about yours. As I've read through baby Bronson's story, it has truly strengthened my testimony. I am a member of the church as well and the way you say things is perfect and makes me feel so much more blessed to have the gospel in my life. Your son is a strength I can see. All of your boys are. My younger sister Ashley has spent quite a few days and nights at Primary Children's as she has a occurring medical condition she'll always have. I'm so happy for your baby's second chance at life and I now will continue to pray for you and your family that you might continue to have strength and that Bronson might grow and become even strong!! :) The name Bronson is definitely the meaning of Strength. It is my mother's maiden name and my mother has been through a lot. Thank you so much for sharing your testimony and sharing your family's story! It has helped me in so many ways. It encourages me to slow down and enjoy life a little bit more and hug everyone I love a little longer.
Now, I also have a request. There is a small family from Rigby, Idaho. They are the Sullenger Family! They have a beautiful 18 month old baby girl, named Preslee Jo. She recently (July 16th, 2010) feel into a canal and drowned! She was also sent to Primary's... but tragically lost her battle a week later. They are also trying to raise money for the Sullenger's in Preslee's honor! If you want to visit their blog it's, patrickandashley.blogspot.com I'm sure they would appreciate any beautiful advice you can give them. You seem to word things perfectly. I think that's what they need right now. :)
