Survived the Press interview...
{Insert BIG sigh of relief...}
They all seemed really nice.
I'd been worried...
Hoping they'd give things the positive spin they deserve.
But they were hoping for a story with a happy ending.
...This place needs one this week.
Thank goodness Bronson is the miracle they were looking for...
The miracle we were all looking for!
Oh, thank you Heavenly Father for granting us a miracle!
.
Sooo...
If you'd like to see our sweet boy on TV,
tune in to Channel 5 News at 6:00. Or Channel 4.
.
Unfortunately, you'll also have to watch me ramble to the cameras,
wearing clothes I dug out from the bottom of my bag.
Clothes I've worn 3 other times this week and slept in twice, by the way.
.
Will someone please DVR it for us?
Bronson will love to see himself on TV.
.
And maybe someday I'll want to roll my eyes at myself on camera.
Gag...
I really hate to be on the wrong side of the camera...
I'd much rather be behind it!

Sara, it was beautiful, you were clear and well spoken and reminded us about what's important! Well done! Channel 5 did a better job than Channel 4. I have them both on my DVR, I'll save them! Love you guys!

You did a great job and looked fabulous, regardless of having the most trying week of your life. Both pieces were very nice, channel 5's piece was longer and had more of you in it! They said there was even more on the 10:00 news.

They included what you said about huggin your kids more and not getting distracted by thing around the house which I feel is one of the most important lessons we could all learn.

I have following since mid week and I am so glad he is ok! What a miracle baby! He is such a cute kid! Don't listen to what people say about you, you are an amazing mother (i don't know you but I just know you are). I wrote on my blog (right after reading yours story) about hugging your kids tighter and not worrying about the small things in life, spending more time with your kids. It really touched my heart and I hope it gives a positive, inspiring hope for others. Much love and prayers for your family.

Hahaha! Channel 4 and 5 were going to interview me and dodged out for a "better story"!! I am SO glad they did because Bronson IS a great story, and I was so scared to see what channel 2 aired after they interviewed me. There is no question in my mind why the didn't air the actual interview and just showed pictures of the kids at the school making hearts for the ball on Saturday!! I was stuttering, laughing, and crying..they I blurted out "CAN you use THAT on TV?!" I couldn't help it :)
I am so sad I missed your interview...

I know you don't know me but I just wanted to say how brave you were to talk to the public about your story. It is something that all moms have done and will make me think twice about leaving the room for a few seconds. I am so happy that your sweet baby is doing better. What a blessing. I hope all goes well and please please know that you looked absolutely beautiful on the news... so no worries there!

You and I have a story about our babies. I almost lost my now five year old to SIDS *so they thought* when he was two months old. I had to throw out my nice beautiful bed spread to have the memory out of my head of finding him in my room on my bed still and lifeless.
But what a joy to find him happy and away two days later and taking him home. I was very lucky to have found him. Your little man will come around and be with your family happy running around and making you smile! I am so glad that you are posting and letting us know what is going on. I have great faith that it will all be great in the end.

Kandice said...

The story was great. I love the little growls Bronson was making during your interview, so cute! I'm so happy your baby is awake and doing so well. I've become obsessed with your blog and watching Bronson's progress. I cry every time I see his smiling face and those videos of "Do As I'm Doing" are priceless. I'm so grateful to Heavenly Father all of our prayers were answered for you and Bronson. What a miracle baby. And BTW, you looked great!

Rebecca said...

I don't know if you'll even see this, with all of the comments left on your blog I'm sure you are way too overwhelmed to take them all in, but I just have to tell you thank you from the bottom of my heart. I work part time, so the chores are always piling up around me and I often feel overwhelmed. Too many times my children have called for my attention to only hear "in a minute!", whether it be playing a game, reading a story, singing a song or just needing to be held. I've wept for your poor sweet Bronson and your story has absolutely changed my life.

You are an amazing mother and a woman of great faith. Thank you for posting your thoughts and feelings through this nightmare. Too many times experiences like yours are left in the dark and covered up rather than speaking out to remind us to take more time with our families.

Much love and may prayers coming from Jacksonville, Florida!

By the way - you look amazing in the video...seriously beautiful!

Hi - a friend had a link on her blog to yours. My daughter is at PCMC as well (room 3017). She is 4 weeks old and fighting RSV. I read your blog and I am glad your little boy is doing so well. What a miracle. It gives me hope that we both are in the same circumstances as mothers watching our little ones overcome these challenges. What's interesting is I think I saw you in the cafeteria this evening with your son. I recognized him from the pictures, but I wasn't sure about you. Anyway, I hope for the best for your family. Take Care - and feel free to visit...our daughter will be here awhile.

I just saw your story on channel 5 tonight. Truly a miracle and a story of great faith. It jogged my memory of a story I read about the faith of another Staker, my great-great-great-grandfather Nathan Staker that settled in Mount Pleasant about 1862.

The story is about Nathan Staker's little 18 month old girl Eliza that drowned and was brought back to life by Elder Orson Hyde. The story came out of an LDS magazine publication from many years ago. I don't know if you are descendants, but the story has many similarities, mainly great faith.

Please contact me if you would like a copy.

It does my heart good to see stories like yours. Have miracles ceased, I think not. I pray for Bronson's continued speedy recovery.

Sara,
I am just another stranger that has been following your precious little one and am so happy to hear of his progress. As a mother of 2 young ones, a 3 yr old boy and a 16 month old girl (born 10/2/08) just a few days before Bronson, I can so relate to your story and want to thank you so much for sharing. It has brought so many tears to my eyes and I want you to know that after reading of your story, I am now enrolling both myself and my husband in a CPR class. I also wanted to bring to your attention this quote. And it is YOUR quote from your blog entry on 2/10/07. Call it mothers intuition, but you must have known he was going to be a little miracle, in more ways than one. "It is a little (okay, a LOT!) faster than we'd thought, but we really are so excited and are feeling very blessed. You can not convince me that it is not our own little miracle... there is just no other explanation... (you'll have to trust us on that one)!"
God Bless you and your amazing family.

hello! I'm just another person who out of boredom was blog stalking and came across a link to read a miracle, so I read it...and almost a few hours later I am done reading your family's sad, sad, yet happy story!! I truly am at a loss for words to somehow express in writing how much my heart aches for you! I sort of consider myself lucky coming across your blog when so many things about Bronson are positive, unbelievable, and inspiring because I can tell you if I would have come across earlier I would have gone each day wondering & worrying about a family with whom I have no relationship with except for your thoughts and feelings you've expressed here.
I am 23 years old, married for almost two years (this june!) and NO KIDS (yet..) While reading your blog without stopping almost ignoring my husband because I found myself consumed in reading post after post...I was in tears!
To Bronson's Mom: thank you for giving me a HUGE perspective on life, family and most importantly the gospel!!! You have left a lasting impression in my heart, and may one day have saved my future babys life! Good Luck. Bronson looks simply amazing!

You don't know me, but I came across a link to your blog on a friends facebook account. I was deeply touched by not only your beautiful words, but your strong faith. What a beautiful miracle your son truly is! I wanted to tell you to not be hard on yourself . . . we all make mistakes because we are all human. When my son was 15 months old he too was in an accident. We were camping and I was busy cleaning up dinner with a friend, our husbands had gone to get a boat fixed. Our little ones were playing around the campsite and my baby tripped and fell into the fire pit that my friend had just put in hot coals from our dutch oven. He had 3rd degree burns on the entire left hand side of his face and surface burns on his hands and foot. Immediately, I began praying as we sat under the water, both of us crying, waiting for the ambulance to find us. Miraculously, we were taken to a hospital that has the best burn center in the state (we live in MO). My son was given blessings and the best medical attention. I felt so guilty that I had caused this to happen to my child. That I had ruined the rest of his life and his beautiful face. But, God heard the prayers of his faithful children. Not only was my son healed completely, but my heart was healed too and I felt so much love. Today, he is a vibrant 7 year old with absolutely NO scars on his face. The only scars are on the inside of his hand and foot where he sustained only surface burns and they are tiny! Know, that strangers in another state are praying for you and the continued healing for your entire family.

Hi, I'm a follower who found you through Natalie's blog. I'm am so happy to see Bronson doing so well. My heart has been aching these past few weeks first for Natalie and then for you and your family. I am thrilled to see things turning out so well for Bronson.

On a completely superficial note. I caught your interview on KSL last night and thought to myself "what a cute outfit she has on" and then I read this post this morning. For what it is worth, I thought you looked darling and apparently the ginormous bed hid the "i've worn this 3 times this week" aspect of the outfit!

Kristy A said...

I dont know you but oh how your story has touched me. Lastnight I sat and read your entire blog for an hour and a half sobbing most of the time and rejoicing` as your family received such an amazing blessing. Your testimony of our heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ touched me so much and just listening to you made me want to be a better person, mother, and daughter. I am a mother of 2 girls, 4 yrs old and 17months and I too have walked away from them in the tub on multiple occasions thinking I just need to grab one thing, or I will be right back. Never again, never again. I don't believe I could be as strong as you. I pray for your little guy and each time I hug my little girls (with out any tubes, so easily accessible) I will think of you and your B and my heart will lean towards our father in heaven asking him to continue to bless your family. Thank you for being so courageous and admirable. God bless you and your sweet, adorable family.

I am so happy for you and your family! I have been watching your story unfold and praying for a full recovery - and I am so thrilled your prayers were answered! On Easter Sunday 2001, my 15 month old drowned in my parents' pool. After CPR and frantic praying, our Lord gave her back to us that day, and I'm eternally grateful. She is a gorgeous, healthy 10 year old now! The nightmares can take a while to fade, though. Stay strong!

Saw you on the news. You looked beautiful. I was amazed at how great you looked after spending so much time in the hospital. I cried tears of joy for you and your family. I've been a silent follower.

Congratulations on your miracle. It is amazing and very needed in our world today. God Lives.

You have had a miracle given to you that anyone would die to have. If you had dandruff and thown-up on clothes that should not have mattered! I doubt anyone even thought a single thing about your appearance, everybody's eyes were on your little miracle angel!:) We are so happy he's ok!

My husband and I said how beautiful you looked on t.v. and that the reporters were true to the story. I felt so privileged to be able to follow your story from beginning to end. To be able to have my daughters and my husband and myself be able to have a tiny fraction of a part of your miracle through our prayers, fasting, and spreading your blog. You will always hold a place in our hearts Sara. I adore you and your family.
Thank you a thousand times over for letting us share this experience with you. I will keep checking for updates on B's progress.
You are a light to the world.
